JSMpeg – Decode it like it's 1999
WHY USE JSMPEG?
What's the alternative?

HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) or MPEG-DASH add at least 5 seconds of latency.
WebRTC is not supported on iOS.
Not all browsers can decode H264; not all browsers can decode VP8.
WebRTC is tremendously complex. Try setting up a WebRTC broadcast server and you'll find yourself in a mess of STUN, TURN, signaling and media servers while trying to setup and compile a whooping 4GB git repository with custom tooling just to end up with what is essentially a black box that you can't possibly understand within your lifetime (well, I can't).
With JSMpeg you get:

A video and audio format that works in all modern browsers.
No licensing fees. All MPEG1 and MP2 patents have expired.
Very tight control over the Audio and Video decoders to implement your ideas.
Very low latency realtime streaming with high framerates and acceptable quality and bitrates.
A stack that you can understand from top to bottom.
Should you use JSMpeg for everything? Certainly not. If you just want to have a static video on your page, go with Youtube or encode it as WebM & MP4 and host it yourself.

If you need tight control over playback, realtime streaming or if you're just curious about Video & Audio codecs, JavaScript or WebGL, consider JSMpeg.

Does Spanish Matter? - Giovanni Rodriguez - #TheCause - Forbes
Spanish may be number three language on the Web. But it could soon become number two. It’s a little known – or perhaps just little appreciated – fact. While Spanish is the number-three language “spoken” on the Internet, there are more Spanish speakers today than any other group except Chinese speakers. If the trend of Internet adoption continues – and if Latinos continue to outpace other groups in population growth – Spanish could someday eclipse English on the Internet.

CrossPlatformMobile
To summarize:

* Don't use cross-platform toolkits
* For maximum reach: built a web app that looks like web app
* To appeal to a particular platform: build a native app for that platform, with a experience design based on that platforms interaction style

ASCII by Jason Scott / Yahoo!locaust
I am, frankly, a mixture of disappointed and sad that after Yahoo! shut down Geocities, Briefcase, Content Match, Mash, [...5...], Yahoo! Podcasts, Yahoo! Music Store, Yahoo Photos, Yahoo! Design, Yahoo Auctions, Farechase, Yahoo Kickstart, MyWeb, WebJay, Yahoo! Directory France, Yahoo! Directory Spain, Yahoo! Directory Germany, Yahoo! Directory Italy, the enterprise business division, Inktomi, SpotM, Maven Networks, Direct Media Exchange, The All Seeing Eye, Yahoo! Tech, Paid Inclusion, Brickhouse, PayDirect, SearchMonkey, and Yahoo! Go!… there are still people out there going “Well, Yahoo certainly will never shut down Flickr, because _______________” where ______ is the sound of donkeys.

What, because they take your money? Because they’re so big? Because so many people use it and like it? Because it works well? Because it would make Yahoo! look bad? Go ahead, give me some more reasons. Flickr allows you great ability to export all your data. Get used to using it regularly.

Imagining the Internet
Tim Berners-Lee offered his "Five-Star" plan for open data. He said public information should be awarded a star rating based on the following criteria: one star for making the information public; a second is awarded if the information is machine-readable; a third star if the data is offered in a non-proprietary format; a fourth is given if it is in Linked Data format; a fifth if it has actually been linked.
