It is with great sadness, longing, and regret that we report that Motorino's Williamsburg location is closing for good. Immediately. Close followers of the site will remember that Mathieu Palombino's lauded two and a half year old one star Graham Avenue pizzeria almost had to close briefly last fall because its building appeared to be sinking into the ground, and for the last few months the whole building has been covered in scaffolding while workers tried to fix the problems. In fact, during a heavy rainstorm two months ago, an Eater operative noticed the windows were spilling out water because they couldn't close. That's how crooked the frame of the restaurant had become.

Palombino offers this statement: "I'm sadly reporting that the Department of Building has shut down Motorino in Brooklyn. The stupidity of our landlord is a force we were not able to overcome. While this setback is unfortunate, we promise to soon re-open in a new location." The East Village location remains open and Palombino still plans on opening a new restaurant on the Bowery this fall. Pizza lovers in Williamsburg should wander in the direction of newcomer Forcella.
