Writing on the Margins of the Web | Open Culture
october 2008 by vielmetti
Today, the world can begin to explore a new web app that will undoubtedly hold appeal for book lovers on the web. The app is called Reframe It, and it lets you write in the margins of any web page, much as you’d write in the margins of a book. And, even better, it lets you share the comments with others, turning marginalia into something of a public conversation. (Watch the video below to see what I mean.)

Labs/Ubiquity/Ubiquity 0.1 Author Tutorial - MozillaWiki
august 2008 by vielmetti
If the user chooses to subscribe to a command from an untrusted source, they will get a security warning message before they can install the command. (And in Ubiquity 0.1, ALL sources are considered untrusted, so don't take it personally!) Because Ubiquity commands can execute arbitrary javascript with chrome privileges, subscribing to a command from a website means allowing that site full access to do whatever it wants to your browser. We want to make sure people understand the dangers before subscribing to commands, so we made the warning page pretty scary.

GOOLASH: anti-google firefox plugin
august 2008 by vielmetti
GOOLASH keeps you logged out from the search engine of Google, regardless of any other "G" services you might be using, like Gmail for example. GOOLASH keeps your web searches disassociated from your Google username, meaning that the results are not being filtered according to the profile Google has on you, neither the context of your requests is being attached to your persona. Doing some trickery with cookies GOOLASH cuts the tentacles of monstrous corporation away from your brain and CPU. Say NO to augmented reality of Google empire, embrace unfiltered content!

Selenium IDE: Selenium IDE
august 2008 by vielmetti
Selenium IDE is an integrated development environment for Selenium tests. It is implemented as a Firefox extension, and allows you to record, edit, and debug tests. Selenium IDE includes the entire Selenium Core, allowing you to easily and quickly record and play back tests in the actual environment that they will run.
Selenium IDE is not only recording tool: it is a complete IDE. You can choose to use its recording capability, or you may edit your scripts by hand. With autocomplete support and the ability to move commands around quickly, Selenium IDE is the ideal environment for creating Selenium tests no matter what style of tests you prefer.

Pearl Crescent Do Not Disturb
august 2008 by vielmetti
Do Not Disturb is an add-on for Mozilla Firefox that suppresses prompts that interfere with unattended use of the browser. For example, with Do Not Disturb installed, alerts and prompt windows that web pages may display via JavaScript are suppressed. Do Not Disturb has proven to be very useful to some of our Page Saver Pro customers, especially those who use Firefox from the command line.
