From the Baymard Institute: "During our recent checkout study we found several usability issues when using a drop-down for your country selector: a lack of overview, unclear sorting, scrolling issues, inconsistent UIs, a lack of context on mobile devices, and finally, they break the user's tab-flow.

So we took it upon ourselves to redesign the country selector."

Good Collection of UI subtleties.

The YUI JavaScript Library is going to version 3 (beta) hopefully this week. In an effort to make the library as flexible as possible, YUI 3 introduces an all new plugin architecture that allows you to add your own functionality to nodes and widgets.

Facebox is a jQuery-based, Facebook-style lightbox which can display images, divs, or entire remote pages. It's simple to use and easy on the eyes. You'll need a loading image, close label, four corners, and solid border images in addition to the javascript and css files

Interestingly (and not surprisingly), browsers differ in rendering images at non-native sizes, with some providing noticeably better results than others. Internet Explorer 6 in particular looked to be the least smooth when scaling images down, but some interesting workarounds are available.

Vandelay Website Design has a good collection of inspirational menu ideas. A pretty standard list as far as these lists go, but still worthwhile to have for possible inspiration.

A nice collection of base rules Web Developers follow, or at least should follow. The only one I might disagree with is the one about IE 6. Determine your own baseline from your logs, you can see what the overwhelming browser is. Sometimes it might be IE6, other times not.

Parallax turns a selected element into a 'window', or viewport, and all its children into absolutely positioned layers that can be seen through the viewport. These layers move in response to the mouse, and, depending on their dimensions (and options for layer initialisation), they move by different amounts, in a parallaxy kind of way.

When creating a web form, one of the many choices you must make is how you are going to align your labels with your inputs. This is not a trivial decision, as this placement affects the readability/usability of your form, completion rates, speed of completion, and ultimately the satisfaction level of the users trying to get through your form.

A site that seems dedicated to showing various dashboards and dashboard related widgets and layouts. Useful in terms of finding examples for comps or wireframes.
