Logging with Day One, geek style - Brett Terpstra
Day One already has a quick entry palette in the menubar. It also has a command line interface (/usr/local/bin/dayone)1 which provides some geeky options (try dayone in Terminal) and the flexibility needed to replace my current logging system. You can create entries quickly with either method, but I wanted just a little bit more out of it. I built a quick script which allows a basic syntax for starring entries and defining dates (using natural language) inline in the entry itself. It can be used from the command line, from LaunchBar (or similar) and can be incorporated into just about any scriptable workflow.

Boston to Orlando with an iPhone | 52 Tiger
Last week I traveled to Orlando, Florida from Boston, Ma. I managed every aspect of the trip, from packing to sending a thank-you card, with my iPhone. I rarely touched paper and never felt unprepared or wanting. Here’s how I managed a quickie vacation with an iPhone (and you can, too).

Get The Most Out Of iOS Voice Dictation [Video How-To] | Cult of Mac
Dictation has been one of my favorite features of the new iPad. It’s a great way to type quick notes or search queries out without having to use the keyboard. Underneath the surface though, dictation is much more than just a simple feature for jotting notes down. In this video, I’ll show you some of the hidden features of voice dictation on the new iPad and iPhone 4S.

Induction ⚡ A Polyglot Database Client For Mac OS X

Explore, Query, Visualize

Focus on the data, not the database. Induction is a new kind of tool designed for understanding and communicating relationships in data. Explore rows and columns, query to get exactly what you want, and visualize that data in powerful ways.

SQL? NoSQL? It Don't Matter

Data is just data, after all. Induction supports PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, Redis, and MongoDB out-of-the-box, and has an extensible architecture that makes it easy to write adapters for anything else you can think of. CouchDB? Oracle? Facebook Graph? Excel? Make it so!

Turn Everything Into Something With OmniFocus
Now, rather than jotting things down on paper, calls, reminders, and minor tasks all go into the app. Emails that require follow up at a later date go into OmniFocus with a link that takes me directly back into the email for reply. I scan documents that require follow up into Evernote and create a task along with a link back to that note in OmniFocus2. I put files in their proper place and create a task with a link to the required files. There was instantly less crap all over my desk, less email in my inbox, no perpetual blinking lights, a less cluttered desk and an organized desktop on both of my computers. Everything in my life that requires further action has became a checkbox inside a single, well organized, home inside of OmniFocus.

Fraser Speirs - Blog - Misconceptions About iOS Multitasking
Summary

Let me wrap this up by giving you a quick summary:

If someone tells you that all the apps in the multitasking bar are running, using up memory or sucking power, they are wrong.
When you hit the home button, an app moves from Active to Background and quickly to the Suspended state where it no longer uses CPU time or drains power.
An app may request an additional 10 minutes of Background running to complete a big task before becoming Suspended.
If memory is becoming scarce, iOS will automatically move Suspended apps into the Not Running state and reclaim their memory.
Five classes of apps - audio, GPS, VOIP, Newsstand and accessory apps - and some built-in apps such as Mail may run indefinitely in the background until they complete their task.
Put simply: you do not have to manage background tasks on iOS. The system handles almost every case for you and well written audio, GPS, VOIP, Newsstand and accessory apps will handle the rest.

Clean out Launchpad completely
But there is a way to empty Launchpad completely—removing even Apple's own apps. The crux of this trick is wiping out the contents of the database Lion uses to know what goes where in Launchpad. To do so, launch Terminal (which, as always, is in /Applications/Utilities) and paste in this sequence of commands at the command line:

sqlite3 ~/Library/Application Support/Dock/*.db "DELETE from apps; DELETE from groups WHERE title<>''; DELETE from items WHERE rowid>2;"; Killall Dock
