The actor George Baker, who starred as Chief Inspector Wexford in ITV's Ruth Rendell Mysteries, has died at the age of 80. The star spent a great deal of time filming in the Meridian region and lived near Salisbury in Wiltshire. A multi-talented man, he'll be remembered for both his on-screen and off-screen presence.
