Celebrities sing AWAY IN A MANGER by candlelight at the Kids for Kids Christmas concert in London. The line-up included RUTH RENDELL, DIANA QUICK, RICHARD WILSON, CHARLOTTE HAWKINS, JACQUIE BELTRAO, LORD COPE, ALASTAIR STEWART and RUTH PALMER.

"On the 28th, I am doing what I always do, and having supper with Ruth Rendell, just the two of us. I tried to get her to come with me to Susie Orbach's Christmas Eve party but she said: "Jeanette, I do my best to be alone at Christmas, and I'm not changing it, even for you". Ruth is like a mother to me, as well as a friend, and our Christmas meal together – she cooks – is one of the most important of the festive days."
