Better random numbers for javascript, v. 0.9
I present several PRNGs that should have much better statistical properties than the built-in Math.random. They have been taken from, or inspired by, well-known sources on the subject, and they have been extensively tested. They share a common interface, but the actual algorithms differ, so that one can choose the best for one's platform and needs.

Lecture notes on the mathematics of the Rubik's cube
I've written some lecture notes for the Math 485 course Mathematics of the Rubik's cube. The latest "latex" version is nicer (better looking stylistically and has more material) and is now available on the web. For that, go to my books page. The book these notes eventually became has been published by Johns Hopkins University Press: Adventures in group theory. (All royalties go directly to charity - EII.)

Mandelbulb: The Unravelling of the Real 3D Mandelbrot Fractal
It's been almost two years since we last wrote about the potential for a real 3D equivalent to the famous 2D Mandelbrot set. We're talking about a fractal which produces exquisite detail on all axes and zoom levels; one that doesn't simply produce the 'extruded' look of the various height-mapped images, or the 'whipped cream' swirls of the Quaternion approach.
