#105 – Flounder (6 Comments)
When I lived out near Boston I liked to visit the New England Aquarium. They have a super cool coral reef tank in the center of the building. It’s a giant cylinder with a spiral pedestrian ramp that coils up to the top. Although the penguin exhibit adjacent to that was pretty memorable as well. They have a big flashlight mounted on a pole that projected a little glowing fish. You get to swivel it around and the penguins will go chasing after it. Clearly penguins and cats are closely related.

Today’s Biff is swept away.

#56 – Knot (9 Comments)
I’m always fascinated when I come across a tree that had something attached to it many years ago and is in the process of swallowing it. At more than a few parks I’ve seen trees with little embedded plaques on them describing what kind of tree it is you are looking at. A tree growing through a chain-link fence can look like a freeze frame of liquid wood being squirted through it. One day as a kid I was walking around with the post from a garage sale sign pretending it was a sword. I sliced it into the crotch of a two-legged tree and left it there. I was quite surprised to come across that tree years later to find the ends of my sword poking out of either side of the tree trunk that had nearly  swallowed it whole.

Today’s Biff is flakey.

#38 – Allergies (15 Comments)
I have a heavy duty dust mask that I keep on my desk and almost always remember to put it on before doing something that would trigger my dust allergies. I get hit pretty fast if I start rummaging around under tables or behind boxes without the mask. I recently slipped up right before going to bed. It turn out that it’s really hard to brush your teeth and sneeze at the same time.

what if darth vader and alf were lovers (26 Comments)
i think it’d go something like this

gay joke, semi-self-aware racism masquerading as joke, man falling down, man falling down

what is the obsession with more and more star wars bro-parodies from family guy and robot chicken, is there any moment in star wars canon that hasn’t been fully dissected yet? they can’t be doing jokes about the prequels too, can they? they’re already parodies of star wars

The System 414: Backing Up
A special public service announcement from your friends at The System. By the way if this comic looks familiar, it ran as part of an article on ZDnet thanks to Systemic SkawtNYC, who is now a blogger over there. I reformat and sometimes write him comics for his blog posts, which has been great to invite people over to the site. If you’re coming over because of that, hello! Otherwise you should check out his blog here, it’s pretty interesting stuff.

Remember, I’ll be at InterventionCon this coming weekend with many goods for sale. Be sure to stop by my table and say hi, even if you don’t plan on purchasing anything. If you find me at the con, be sure to let me know that you’ve already read the comic. Current readers get free stuff! The secret password is “tacos”.

For that matter, I’ll be on a few events as part of SUPER ART FIGHT which we’re doing as part of the con. The confirmed events so far are our full live event on Saturday and an “after dark” SAF show that night that is sure to be interesting, and R-rated in nature. We’re letting Noguchi use all his 4-letter words, so that will not be something to miss. Be sure to come see those too!

After Hours with Scott and Kris
Saturday, 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM, Pegasus Theatre. PAX welcomes its first official late-night talk show featuring Scott Kurtz and Kris Straub, the talent behind PATV’s Blamimations. Concert counter-programming at its finest!

Saturday, 10:00 PM – 12:00 AM, Wolfman Theatre

#1099 – Slick
When I was a kid water slides were a rare thing that you had to drive many miles find. I mainly saw them when on vacation in places like Florida. Now I see them all over. The local pool has a bunch and I even see them at some hotels I pass on the highway. The ones that I had access to were just standard slides you would see on a playground but there just happened to be water at the bottom.

#1087 – Motivation
Our little dog doesn’t get to run much. We don’t have a fenced in yard and so when we take her out on a leash it’s for a nice leisurely walk. Unless there is a giant bumblebee dive bombing my head. Then I will make an exception and take the dog on a blisteringly fast and erratic through many of our neighbor’s yards.
