rtomayko's ron at master - GitHub
december 2009 by soypunk
"Ron is a humane text format and toolchain for creating UNIX man pages, and things that appear as man pages from a distance. Use it to build and install standard UNIX roff man pages or to generate nicely formatted HTML manual pages for the web. The Ron file format is based on Markdown. In fact, Ron files are a compatible subset of Markdown syntax but have a more rigid structure and extend Markdown in some ways to provide features commonly found in man pages (e.g., definition lists). The ron(5) manual page defines the format in more detail."

Delve into UNIX process creation
march 2009 by soypunk
"Examine the life cycle of a process so that you can relate what you see happening on your system to what's going on within the kernel. System administrators must know how processes are created and destroyed within the UNIX® environment in order to understand how the system fits together and how to manage misbehaving processes. Similarly, developers must understand the UNIX processes model in order to write solid applications that run unattended and won't cause problems for system administrators."

btail - a bayesian log filter
august 2008 by soypunk
"Btail monitors a logfile for specific events. To do this it uses a bayesian filter to determine what events are worth passing through and which should be suppressed. So it filters out all of the routine stuff, but passes through anything important or out of the ordinary." Hrm, that has promise.
