notes on "how to clone delicious in 48 hours"
I see these types of post ("write popular service X in language/framework/tool Y over the weekend") rather frequently and I often wonder whether I'm just being a cranky old man or if the various US CS education programs aren't preparing these folks.

OFFICIAL AUTO-MEME API VERY VERY NICE
Returns inspiring bits of text such as "COINS OR GTFO" or "HOW IS RAPTORJESUS FORMED?". It is basically a generator for 4chan-like one-liners. I'm struggling to think of a legitimate use for it.

ArticleHereComesTheSun - doctype - Magic properties make Firefox synchronously load the Java plugin - Google Code
" It turns out that Mozilla Firefox treats window.sun as a magic LiveConnect property. (I tested with Mozilla Firefox 3.0.6 on Windows.) What's LiveConnect? It was introduced in Netscape 4 to allow plugins to be scripted. Accessing any magic LiveConnect property will start the Java plugin -- even if your code has nothing to do with Java."

Warcraft guild achievements as RSS - jerakeen.org
"If you visit the armoury in firefox they return an XML document with an XSL stylesheet referenced in the header that transforms the XML into a web page. Why are they doing this? It must be a huge amount of work compared to just serving HTML, I don’t get it. Let’s ignore that."

"jCquard is a generally useless JavaScript library that you will probably (hopefully?) never need to use — unless you are the nostalgic type, you like to roll with the old-schoolers, or you are convinced that the end is near and soon all we’ll have left are stacks of punch cards with which to rebuild the entirety of our culture."

FresnoBee.com: Local: Burglar victims wake to spice rub, sausage attack
Maybe the greatest news story of all time: "A burglar who broke into a home just east of Fresno rubbed food seasoning over the body of one of two men as they slept in their rooms and then used an 8-inch sausage to whack the other man on the face and head before running out of the house, Fresno County sheriff's deputies said Saturday."
