Google+: "a quiz"

Hixie brainbuster for what happens with various HTML markup incantations when they are represented through the DOM. Notable for the comment thread. Also the "It's amazing that the pile of shit that is the Web platform survives." comment. So true.

notes on "how to clone delicious in 48 hours"
december 2010 by soypunk
I see these types of post ("write popular service X in language/framework/tool Y over the weekend") rather frequently and I often wonder whether I'm just being a cranky old man or if the various US CS education programs aren't preparing these folks.

ArticleHereComesTheSun - doctype - Magic properties make Firefox synchronously load the Java plugin - Google Code
february 2009 by soypunk
" It turns out that Mozilla Firefox treats window.sun as a magic LiveConnect property. (I tested with Mozilla Firefox 3.0.6 on Windows.) What's LiveConnect? It was introduced in Netscape 4 to allow plugins to be scripted. Accessing any magic LiveConnect property will start the Java plugin -- even if your code has nothing to do with Java."
