IE8 and the X-UA-Compatible situation | FarukAt.eş
this matches my own testing of the situation and fails to point out that IE7 compat-mode != IE7. (Microsoft is aware of this and seemingly working on patching the problems where they can... but now we effectively have two versions of IE7 to test for.)

ArticleHereComesTheSun - doctype - Magic properties make Firefox synchronously load the Java plugin - Google Code
" It turns out that Mozilla Firefox treats window.sun as a magic LiveConnect property. (I tested with Mozilla Firefox 3.0.6 on Windows.) What's LiveConnect? It was introduced in Netscape 4 to allow plugins to be scripted. Accessing any magic LiveConnect property will start the Java plugin -- even if your code has nothing to do with Java."

The OpenID and OAuth Flow: Playing with UX · Ben Ward
"Unfortunately, Facebook Connect then screws up. The whole point of delegated auth is that we stop users entering their passwords into third party sites. It has to stop. That means both actually entering their details into third parties, but also interface that gives the impression of giving your password to a third party." Indeed, this crap is getting old.

"Native Client is an open-source research technology for running x86 native code in web applications, with the goal of maintaining the browser neutrality, OS portability, and safety that people expect from web apps. We've released this project at an early, research stage to get feedback from the security and broader open-source communities. We believe that Native Client technology will someday help web developers to create richer and more dynamic browser-based applications."

xssinterface - Google Code
"The xssinterface javascript library enables communication of multiple pages (or pages and iframes) via javascript functions across domain boundaries. This may be useful for websites that want to expose a limited javascript interface to embedded widgets. xssinterface is not a library to perform XSS attacks. To the contrary, it enables javascript messaging between pages from different origins using explicit white-list authorization to prevent XSS security holes."

"Starting with the next version of every major browser, the User-Agent should simply read: browser version" Well if you want to send a message now, why not try it out in a browser that will let you set a custom UA string. For and against standardizing font embedding
"W3C is investigating if it should set up a WG to make a standard version of EOT. There is no standard for embedding fonts in Web documents yet, but EOT, with some improvements, could become one. Microsoft and Monotype submitted their technology to W3C for that purpose. W3C staff asked many companies and people for their opinions. This is a summary. "
