Okay, it's a generalisation. And it's untested.<br />

Game-based learning: pedagogical or an economic question?
I thought I knew the answer to this one. In that, as games are \'problem-solving spaces\', if you\'re performance issue involved solving problems then it was appropriate for game-based learning ie all learning was suitable for game-based learning. Enthusiasm tends to carry me away with myself.<br />

It occurs to me that this question isn\'t a pedagogical question but a question of economics.<br />

Elements for social learning environments - Google's roadmap?
No wonder that LMSs and intranets are such bloatware.<br />
<br />
This is partly interesting as a share-and-discuss with clients in smaller organisations. And it\'s also partly interesting as it being a roadmap for where Google is going. Google provide a great many of the services here and it\'s easy to see them getting the rest and sticking it into the apps package.<br />
<br />
For all my tub-thumping, I just don\'t see how an organisation bigger than 150 people would cope with using all the services below without trusting its staff to an extraordinary degree. Which maybe is the point.<br />
<br />
IT managers must look at these diagrams with terror.<br />
<br />
Equally, I don\'t see how a virtual organisation could function any other way. CEOs of the big players must also look at these with terror (I suspect they don\'t even notice but they probably should).<br />
<br />

Why learners don't appreciate the usefulness of hard work? The 'Stability Bias':
Is it just me, or are a lot of the Science Daily press releases really badly written. I\'m not sure I\'ve understood this one well.<br />
<br />
But I think it says that learners have more confidence in their memory than is warranted. And that this leads us to undervalue the power of study, work, training - and presumably testing.<br />
<br />
Interesting, if that\'s what it says. And \'stability bias\' is a useful term (though opaque to me...)

Yet another reason to love (a) blogs and (b) Jesse Schell (incidentally, the title and purpose of his blog is a typical game-designerish thing to do, but it\'s a winner and I think I might steal it. . .)<br />

I read Daniel Willingham\'s book, \"Why Don\'t Students Like School?\" and was impressed, captivated, persuaded - but I didn\'t spot this line.<br />
