Musical analysis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
january 2012
Musical analysis is the attempt to answer the question how does this music work?. The method employed to answer this question, and indeed exactly what is meant by the question, differs from analyst to analyst, and according to the purpose of the analysis. According to Ian Bent (Bent, 1987), analysis is "an approach and method [that] can be traced back to the 1750s ... [though] it existed as a scholarly tool, albeit an auxiliary one, from the Middle Ages onwards." A.B. Marx was influential in formalising concepts about composition and music understanding towards the second half of the 19th century.
The principle of analysis has been variously criticized, especially by composers, such as Edgard Varèse's claim that, “to explain by means of [analysis] is to decompose, to mutilate the spirit of a work” (quoted in Bernard 1981, 1).

The Fundamentals of FFT-Based Signal Analysis and Measurement in LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI - Developer Zone - National Instruments
january 2012
The Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and the power spectrum are powerful tools for analyzing and measuring signals from plug-in data acquisition (DAQ) devices. For example, you can effectively acquire time-domain signals, measure the frequency content, and convert the results to real-world units and displays as shown on traditional benchtop spectrum and network analyzers. By using plug-in DAQ devices, you can build a lower cost measurement system and avoid the communication overhead of working with a stand-alone instrument. Plus, you have the flexibility of configuring your measurement processing to meet your needs.

Intelligent Trading: Practical Implementation of Neural Network based time series (stock) prediction - PART 1
january 2012
The following introduction is to allow viewers to understand the basic concepts and practical implementation of neural nets towards a financial time series. I will not go too deep into detail about the mathematics behind the neural net at the moment. My goal is to get you to understand practical details about how to actually implement a neural net using simple tools and models. We will start with a simple model to understand a basic time series. The time series waveform is a simple sine wave with the period set to 30 days. It is implemented in excel as a source file to be processed in any Machine Learning capable software.

Weka 3 - Data Mining with Open Source Machine Learning Software in Java
january 2012
Weka is a collection of machine learning algorithms for data mining tasks. The algorithms can either be applied directly to a dataset or called from your own Java code. Weka contains tools for data pre-processing, classification, regression, clustering, association rules, and visualization. It is also well-suited for developing new machine learning schemes.

Muxer's InstantSampler
september 2011
The plugin could be named "audio copy-paster" or "snippet looper", but I choose to call it InstantSampler because it does what a simple 'normal' sampler does (playing audio fragments by MIDI notes), but it takes its samples (instantly) from the audio input whenever you hit a specific MIDI note for the first time. Every consecutive time you hit the same MIDI-note, it plays back the recorded fragment (or shorter, depending on the note's length).
