Night | The New York Review of Books
Tony Judt on his own Lou Gehrig's disease. "The pleasures of mental agility are much overstated, inevitably—as it now appears to me—by those not exclusively dependent upon them. Much the same can be said of well-meaning encouragements to find nonphysical compensations for physical inadequacy. That way lies futility. Loss is loss, and nothing is gained by calling it by a nicer name. My nights are intriguing; but I could do without them."

Jiffy (time) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Jiffy is used in different applications for various short, very short, or extremely short periods of time. In informal speech a "jiffy" means any unspecified short period of time, as in "I'll be back in a jiffy", but in other contexts it has more precise definitions. The word is thought to originally be thieves' cant for lightning, though this cannot be confirmed.[1]"

Life Below 600px | I Am Paddy
"I think I've made my point. We all know, people have learned to scroll. They did a long time ago, but still the 'everything needs to be above the fold' concept lingers on.

Many web designers, after presenting a site design, hear the client worriedly ask 'But, where is the fold?!' Your first response is usually to switch on the guides in Photoshop to show and they then nervously say 'Hmm, yeah, we're going to need those articles, and those links, and those 6 images all above the fold.'

And there goes any sense of white space, readability and story telling you had planned for their site. •"
