DNG Profiles:FAQ - Adobe Labs
december 2009 by roel
What's the easiest way to apply a profile to a large number of images in Lightroom? First, select a set of images in your LR catalog. Next, choose your desired profile from the Profile popup menu in the Develop module's Camera Calibration panel. Then choose "Sync Settings..." from the Settings menu. Make sure "Calibration" is checked in the ensuing dialog box and click Synchronize. If you find yourself doing this a lot, you can save yourself time by making a preset. In the Develop module's left panel, click the + button to the right of the word "Presets". Make sure "Calibration" is checked in the ensuing dialog box and click Create. Then whenever you need to apply your preset to a group of images, click on your newly-created preset from the Presets list in the left panel.

Adobe DNG Profiles and Profile Editor
december 2009 by roel
With the introduction on July 29, 2008 of Lightroom 2.0 and Camera Raw 4.5 a new and very exciting change has taken place. Both of these raw converters (as well as any others which are DNG 1.2 compatible) now can use camera profiles.

Adobe Lightroom - Customising Camera Defaults
december 2009 by roel
As noted above both Lightroom and Camera Raw include support for the saving and application of user defined develop settings on a camera model, serial number and/or ISO rating basis. These settings will be applied automatically to each photo during import or after a reset if it is already within the catalog. By adopting this approach Lightroom provides a means by which much of the decision making and application of custom or user defined defaults for develop settings is fully automated. Better still is the fact that the defaults saved in Lightroom will automatically be used by Camera Raw and vice versa.

A Peek Over My Shoulder - James Duncan Davidson - James Duncan Davidson
june 2009 by roel
My longtime friend Mike Clark from The Pragmatic Studio recently went to Hawaii on vacation and, of course, took his camera. During his trip, he captured a great photo of a green lizard. Yesterday, he sent me an email asking for any comments or criticism about his photo and what I might do to it in Lightroom. Instead of trying to communicate vaguely through email and a couple of static photos, I pulled out ScreenFlow (which I’ve been meaning to play with sometime) and kicked out a fast little screencast of me in Lightroom talking my way through processing his image.

Atlanta Wedding Photographer | Lightroom Presets
may 2009 by roel
I designed this workflow to be a little more intuitive and versatile than one-size-fits-all preset approach. Since I occasionally shoot in different file formats, I needed presets that could adapt to both a RAW and JPG workflow. The workflow itself is a two-step process 1) Correcting and enhancing the quality and tonality of the images, and 2) making color adjustments. The two categories of presets I developed (Basic Presets and Color Presets) can be mixed and matched in a number of ways, and since the settings of each type of preset are exclusive to their function, you'll never have to worry about Basic Presets or Color Presets overriding each other. Basic Presets only affect White Balance, Exposure, Recovery, Fill Light, Blacks, Brightness, Contrast, Tone Curve, and Vignette settings. And Color Presets only affect Hue, Saturation, Luminance, Grayscale Mix, and Split Tone settings.

My Photography Workflow 2009 | Thomas Hawk Digital Connection
may 2009 by roel
Last year I wrote a blog post detailing my photography workflow. Since last year though my workflow has changed a bit as I’ve migrated from Adobe’s Bridge software to Adobe’s Lightroom software and thought that I’d post an updated article detailing how I process my images from start to finish. Questions about my workflow are some of the most common questions I’m regularly asked.

3.4 Vignettes, voor artistiek effect | DIGITALE•FOTOGRAFIETIPS
december 2008 by roel

Geotagging and Adobe Lightroom | Fotohacker
november 2008 by roel
In a Mac environment, GPSPhotoLinker lets you download your GPS track log, and then matches up your photos to the GPS data. It does that by comparing the timestamp in your photo’s Exif data to the timestamps in your GPS track log. Once done, it can create a GPX file. For a Windows machine, RoboGeo is your best bet, and it basically does the same thing as the GPSTrackLog application for the Mac, and also exports a GPX file.

The Tao of Mac - Ten Days With Lightroom
october 2008 by roel
There are a million things people take for granted when talking about either Lightroom or iPhoto – for starters, that one is a professional tool and the other is a toy. But toys can become quite sophisticated, and professional tools tend to go mainstream as technology matures – plus photography is a field where that distinction is fast blurring, to a point.

Photofacts; De eerste stapjes met Lightroom
october 2008 by roel
