F.lux: software to make your life better
During the day, computer screens look good—they're designed to look like the sun. But, at 9PM, 10PM, or 3AM, you probably shouldn't be looking at the sun.

F.lux fixes this: it makes the color of your computer's display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day.

It's even possible that you're staying up too late because of your computer. You could use f.lux because it makes you sleep better, or you could just use it just because it makes your computer look better.

DNG Profiles:FAQ - Adobe Labs
What's the easiest way to apply a profile to a large number of images in Lightroom? First, select a set of images in your LR catalog. Next, choose your desired profile from the Profile popup menu in the Develop module's Camera Calibration panel. Then choose "Sync Settings..." from the Settings menu. Make sure "Calibration" is checked in the ensuing dialog box and click Synchronize. If you find yourself doing this a lot, you can save yourself time by making a preset. In the Develop module's left panel, click the + button to the right of the word "Presets". Make sure "Calibration" is checked in the ensuing dialog box and click Create. Then whenever you need to apply your preset to a group of images, click on your newly-created preset from the Presets list in the left panel.

Adobe DNG Profiles and Profile Editor
With the introduction on July 29, 2008 of Lightroom 2.0 and Camera Raw 4.5 a new and very exciting change has taken place. Both of these raw converters (as well as any others which are DNG 1.2 compatible) now can use camera profiles.

Why do my photos change color? Also known as ‘Why did Lightroom mess up my photos?’ | Lightroom Queen Blog
When the first preview appears, it looks just like it did on the camera, and then that disappears and it applies other settings. How do I turn that off?

Use ColorVision Spyder to produce an ICC monitor profile under ArgyllCMS / Linux « Linux Photography
OK, I was very enthusiastic in my last entry to see my Spyder calibration device supported in ArgyllCMS. So much that I didn’t read any documentation and just typed the first command that I came across and behold, my Spyder started measuring patches. Great! However, typing the first command I came across didn’t quite produce a working icc profile.

John Resig - Color Profiles in Firefox 3
Deb Richardson wrote up an interesting piece today describing color profile support in Firefox 3. The result of a color profile is a more-accurate mapping from an original set of colors to better match the intended rendering.

UFRaw - Color Management
I'm not going to go into the full details of color management here. Basically, color management is needed because different devices conceive colors differently. For example, if you display a pure red on your computer screen, and photograph it, your camera
