UAR, de mobiele architectuurapplicatie van het NAi geeft aan de hand van tekst, beeld, archiefmateriaal en film, op een iPhone of een Google Android-toestel (in een later stadium ook Nokia-telefoons) informatie over de gebouwde omgeving. Door gebruik te maken van geavanceerde 3D-modellen laat UAR midden in de stad via je telefoon ook zien wat er niet is. De stad zoals zij was, bijvoorbeeld door gebouwen te tonen die er vroeger stonden. De stad zoals zij had kunnen zijn, door maquettes en ontwerptekeningen te tonen van alternatieve ontwerpen die nooit zijn gerealiseerd. En de stad zoals zij wordt, door artist-impressions te tonen van gebouwen in aanbouw, of gebouwen die in de planning staan.
