"Canal/Arquivo de vídeos para celebrar a variedade da música feita em Portugal. Os vídeos são sempre filmados em espaços exteriores ou inóspitos aproveitando os sons ambientes e criando intimidade com os músicos. O microfone está sempre visível porque queremos trazer a música para a rua e vemos o mundo como um palco gigante."

november 2011 by robertogreco
"But wait… That wasn’t all they did. They disabled embedding of all content on our site, even the things we had made ourselves. Sure, the videos were still available by going directly to Vimeo.com and going into our account, but embedding was gone, so every occurrence of a video on our site was replaced with a block that said “embedding has been disabled for this site.”"

Vimeo vs. Indie Game Developers
november 2011 by robertogreco
"However, one thing that has become increasingly difficult to find has been anything related to video games. Specifically, indie video games. Vimeo's long been the go-to space for heralded indie titles like Sword and Sworcery to tease viewers with glimpses of in-development games. Yet, indie devlopers are finding themselves running afoul of an edict that forbids video of gameplays for users at the Basic and Plus levels of membership. To have gameplay videos hosted, users must purchase the Pro level at a cost of $199/year. That may not seem like a lot, but considering how many indie games get made by one- or two-person teams with no other source of income, it can be a big difference.
After seeing a flurry of tweets about the Vimeo policy earlier today, Kotaku reached out to Independent Games Festival chairman Brandon Boyer for his take on the situation. His editorial follows:"

New upload rules on Vimeo Staff Blog
november 2011 by robertogreco
"The Vimeo staff has decided that we are no longer going to allow gaming videos on Vimeo. Specifically, we are no longer going to allow game walk-throughs, game strategy videos, depictions of player vs player battles, raids, fraps, or any other video gaming videos that simply depict individuals playing a video game. Videos falling into this category will be subject to deletion as of September 1st; new videos of this type will be removed."

How Vimeo Lost Me
november 2011 by robertogreco
"I used to prefer Vimeo over YouTube. Vimeo was always a bit better in quality, had a nicer looking player and website. Most importantly, it had a more mature and tasteful community. So when I released my game TRAUMA, it was a no-brainer to publish the trailer for it on Vimeo. It was an arty project that was made exactly for the kind of audience I would meet on Vimeo.
Today, I’m regretting that decision…"

"Leapf - is the best "meta"-dashboard out there right now. Leapf's proprietor Mark wrote (somewhere) that Leapf was about the moon, not the finger, and it really works. Rather than simply aggregate and collapse links and images pulled out of Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, TypePad, etc., leapf figures out what people are linking to and collapses the feedback into one stream. It does more too, but it's relevant here because it's the best reading experience if you want to "cross the streams." The Twitter app is related and has some very similar ideas, but it still feels like a little bit of a mess to me."

"I have a vision of a new social networking paradigm. Handcrafted social networks.<br />
<br />
I imagine a world where people take each network for what it is and participate (or not) on those terms. Instead of a firehose slurry of everything buckets, I imagine separate streams of purified whatever-it-is-each-service-does. I envision users that post when they’re inspired & don’t mind skipping a few days if nothing particularly interesting comes up…<br />
<br />
I imagine people taking the extra 10 seconds to reformat a post for each service if the message is so relevant and important that it needs to show up more than once. I imagine being able to choose who I follow and what subset of their postings I get with a high degree of granularity.<br />
<br />
There may come a day when this vision gets implemented on the server side. When all the social networks give me fine grain control for hiding subsets of the updates sent out by my contacts. But until that day comes, it’s gotta be solved on the client side."

Video site Vimeo uses HTML5 to get more iPhone friendly | VentureBeat
august 2010 by robertogreco
"Video sharing site Vimeo says it’s going to be the latest video company using the new HTML5 format as its path onto mobile devices. The site plans to release a “Universal Player” later today that will detect your smartphone browser and determine what video format it will support. So it might play in HTML5 on an iPhone or iPad, but play in Flash on an Android phone. …<br />
<br />
Vimeo, which is owned by media company IAC, also announced a new Watch Later feature, which allows users to bookmark videos for future viewing. Watch Later sounds most interesting when used across devices, so that someone could start watching a video on their computer, then continue it on their television in the Vimeo channel in the Roku set-top box, and finally finish it on Vimeo’s mobile website."

Not raving, but droning. - Happy new year! I'm leaving Tumblr.
january 2009 by robertogreco
"there are a ton of sites that perform individual tasks significantly better than Tumblr does, so I’m going to go with those. Flickr for photos, Twitter for short-form text, Vimeo for video, Delicious for links, for example. ... The Dashboard is a neat idea, really, but I’m also curious if Theresa uploaded any pictures recently, or if Herschell is on Xbox Live and up for some Left 4 Dead, or what new site Aaron is working on and has worked on in the past. Tumblr doesn’t solve that problem. Reblogging is boring. We don’t need more curators, we need more creators, and we need ways to aggregate what we do in the real world and connect it with people we care about. There needs to be a hub, flexible enough for new sites and content types to be added and removed as the tides ebb and flow. For the time being, that’ll be a personal site for me. We’ll see what happens."
