Installing Markdown as an OS X Services Menu Item Using Automator | Gothick.org.uk
So, I experimented. And the good news is that since Snow Leopard came out, with its improvements to the Services menu and Automator support, adding Markdown conversion to the Services menu yourself is an absolute doddle. I took a guess and what I did worked first time.

Bit.ly URL shortening with Mac OS X Snow Leopard Services and Applescript
For those with no inclination to follow along, I’ve provided the workflow below. Just download this, unzip it, and place it in ~/username/Library/Services. To use it, just select a URL in any application, right-click, and select “bitly”. The shortened URL will be on your clipboard in .22 seconds, ready for you to paste anywhere you like.

SymbolicLinker
SymbolicLinker is a tiny contextual menu plugin (for Puma through Leopard users) and software service (for Snow Leopard & later users) that, once installed, allows any user to create symbolic links to files inside the Finder. SymbolicLinker does this by adding a contextual menu item to the Finder that generates symbolic links to the selected files. The goal of this product is to decrease users' trips to the Terminal in order to use the "ln -s" command. SymbolicLinker is available in English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish.
