How To Produce An eBook With Apple's Pages - Part 1
It’s important to point out that while the ePub format works on most ebook readers (including Apple’s iBook reader) and is opensource, it is not the format used by Amazon’s Kindle reader (which uses the MOBI format). There are software tools, like Calibre, available to convert from ePub to MOBI. (I may do a post in the future going over these conversion tools and options.)

Creating ePub files with Pages
To learn more about using the ePub format and get a better feel for how a Pages document might appear as a book in iBooks, it’s a good idea to download the “ePub Best Practices” sample document. After reading the guidelines and instructions within the document, you can use it as a template to create your own document. You can also import the styles from the sample document into a new document you create.

Understanding Linux CPU Load - when should you be worried?
Most people have an inkling of what the load averages mean: the three numbers represent averages over progressively longer periods of time (one, five, and fifteen minute averages), and that lower numbers are better. Higher numbers represent a problem or an overloaded machine. But, what's the the threshold? What constitutes "good" and "bad" load average values? When should you be concerned over a load average value, and when should you scramble to fix it ASAP?

Launching the bookmark is the same as opening the link, so if your shortcut contains the CMD key, the bookmark will open in a new tab.
Using Shift will result in the bookmark being opened in a new window.
Somehow using the alt key does not trigger a force-download though, so only use Ctrl and Alt if you want your bookmark to launch in the same window.

The problem with email is that people think it's electronic mail.

Email is not mail in electronic form. You are not writing a letter.

Few send readable email or tap the deliberative potential of the medium.

For example, email should be formatted into points--not paragraphs.

And, you should not always reply above the message you were sent.

Many of the tips below are already widely followed in academia, where debate and discussion over email have been taking place for decades.

structure - Dashes vs. Commas vs. parentheses? - Writers - Stack Exchange
Looking at your three examples, I would say the following:

The first one (hyphens) emphasises that it's his third meal of the day, making it at least as important an idea as the broken table.

The second one (commas) downplays the idea, making the broken table more important, just leaving us with an impression about the eating. This is the most subtle of the three.

In the third one (parentheses), the narrator is speaking directly to the reader and is making an out-of-character remark about Bilbo's eating habits. This is the most blatant of the three.

How to create static pages in Tumblr
The trick I’ve used is to create subdomains for each static page. My personal blog is at jerrybrito.org, but my about page is at about.jerrybrito.org. That “about” subdomain is not hosted by Tumblr; it’s hosted on my own server. I simply took the HTML for my Tumblr template and replaced the dynamic content (the code that calls for the blog posts) with the static text of my about page. Voila, a static page for Tumblr.

What is WindowServer? - Mac Forums
kernel_task is the first process that is run by the kernel (core of the OS) during system startup. It is responsible for system initialization and starting up further process in the system init process. I'm not sure if it does anything after system startup - it may well be what controls basic operations such as disk / file access, etc, which make the computer do its thing. I'm not really sure if that stuff is in kernel_task or if it's buried deeper within the kernel itself. But rest assured that this process is vital to your machine being able to do anything at all!

WindowServer draws everything you see on the screen. It acts as a mediator between applications that want to draw on the screen and the graphics hardware. When an application wants to draw something, it establishes a connection with WindowServer, tells WindowServer what to draw, and WindowServer handles the drawing / compositing / Quartz Extreme hardware acceleration to finally produce what's seen on the entire screen.

As a technical matter, I write for 20-30 minutes every day. I do it at 5 a.m. or 6 a.m. in the morning. I write 250 words, about one page. At that rate, I do a little over a novel a year and that's not a bad clip to go at. Novels for me are how I find out what's going on in my own head. And so that's a really useful and indeed critical thing to do when you do as many of these other things as I do.
