Helga Henry, with whom I have worked on a number of (okay, two) training courses, has a new blog about "releasing creativity".

Growing up Heroes
Photos of American (on the whole) kids dressed up as superheroes. Better than it sounds and it sounds great.

The Death Of The Boring Blog Post
I'm torn on this one. On the one hand "boring" looking blogs are incredibly empowering as they give people a platform with no need for design skills. On the other I love hand crafted stuff and do care what my web presences look like.

Genomicon
A blog I recently came across (via Twitter, probably). Not sure exactly why I like it or why it's good but that's probably why I like it and why it's good. Gets the balance right between show and tell.

Unified Review Theory
Back in 2004 I linked to Neill and James Cameron's project to review everything in the world ever. Their efforts trickled to a halt around 2005 but I'm delighted to notice that the URL returned in October. Many delights on display including a review of the atrocious looking film Shark in Venice complete with trailer. Oh yes!

Dubstep in Birmingham has exploded.
James Arctic went to Eardrum on the 27th and pronounced it good. "Seriously, the energy levels last night were beyond anything i've ever experienced at any other dubstep rave, the sound was sick, the atmosphere was dope and the dj's were rinsin some of the sickest tunes i've ever witnessed."

His blog isn't just post-club rantings though. There's a lot of good stuff in there including a video of the Ideal Skate boys on a trip to Northampton. One to keep an eye on.

Matt Haughey, who created MetaFilter back in the day, has a moan about how things ain't like they were. I love this sort of stuff.

Hello Digital
is Birmingham's long mooted digital festival happening in October. They have a blog and, shockingly, seem to be using it very well indeed. Have we turned a corner? I think we might have done. Pete is happy!

What Makes for a Good Blog?
Merlin Mann is one of a small pool of old-school bloggers I have a lot of time for. Here he outlines some basic and pretty obvious guidelines, so basic and obvious that I forget them from time to time. Worth a read.

Spaghetti Junction Style
A "stop 'em in the street" fashion blog for Birmingham which, I think, is just what the city needs right now. Magic. via BiNS

Email in some images and text and it creates a nice looking web page. Do it again from the same email and you've got a blog. Very impressive and I need to write more about why but for now here's the link. Go check it out.

Watchification
Speechification for telly. Interesting that while they rip and mp3 the radio shows they're embedding the iPlayer here, meaning the older posts are full of "no longer available" screens and therefore useless. Be useful for current stuff though.
