The boy walked with a soldier's swagger, though he couldn't have been fully out of adolescence yet. Not a march, precisely; back stiff, shoulders set, a cocky tilt of the hips as he moved. Part of it was surely the nuskin bandages that Levy knew were strapped tightly around the boy's ribcage, extending up along the left side of his neck and down his half-mangled right arm.

"You wanted to see me, sir," the boy said, standing to attention in front of the table.

"Sit down," Levy replied, kicking a chair out for the boy to sit in. Brown hair, bright eyes. Someone's darling. A heartbreaker already. "What's your name, kid?"

"Lo," the boy said.

A strange deck of Tarot cards, a dying TARDIS, and UNIT's invasion of a coastal Welsh village lead Torchwood to investigate the disappearance of the Doctor, with some help from Sarah Jane and Luke Smith. This is a new incarnation of the Doctor, however, and none of them are prepared for what they find as they unravel the mystery.

It comes to her in the night, like a lover, a ghost. This dream she's had since childhood. Except that's not right - it doesn't feel like a dream, it never has, but more a blood-memory, a shur, something bad, something wicked. A nightmare. It always starts the same. A forest; trees scratching up the night sky, their shapes dark, sinister and their edges vague, like they're not even sure where they end or begin, their borders or existence. There's a man by her side, pale face lit up like a 'Lantean tower. Crooked nose and full lips. His color bleeds into the landscape, too. She loves him. "Run," she screams. They're running. "Hurry!" And she knows, suddenly, that they're not running. They're being chased.

Two names fit comfortably inside his head: Donna, Doctor. Both are useless; here he sits, a shadow-copy (the most anomalous bloke I've ever met) hiding in the depths of the TARDIS from his other self. He watches his hand, strangely disconnected, scrawling Gallifreyan words on post-its he found in a stationary cupboard: one word, another, names that haven't fit comfortably in his head for a millennium. How ridiculous. He's hours old.
