Time Sink on the Mac App Store
Time Sink helps you track how you spend your time on your Mac. It automatically logs opened windows and applications, and keeps track of how long you've spent using things in total (i.e. running), and in the foreground (i.e. actively using). It does this without any user intervention required to start or stop processes - it's just set-

SimpleText — Your writing synced online
"For people who want their writing synced online. SimpleText keeps a folder of text files on your Mac synced to the SimpleText.ws website. Unlike manual syncing, SimpleText merges your changes so you'll never lose data." Not sure I need *another* sync option...

reQall
Interesting app that lets you record voice notes on your iPhone, which are then transcribed to text files which are synced to the web app or Firefox extension/turned into reminder emails or text messages. It's Evernote for audio rather than images, very roughly speaking.

London A-Z
In iPhone form. Searchable, shows current location, generally looks quite slick, and you don't need to be online to use it (which, since I drain my battery using Google Maps whenever I'm in London, is the tempting feature). £5.99.

Panic - Extras - Miscellanous Bits of Panic
Panic are giving away Transmit 1.7 for OS 9, to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the app. I'm pretty sure Transmit (née Transit) is the only app I've used for ten years. Though nowadays it only gets launched very occasionally, thanks to ExpanDrive, which suits my light use of SFTP much better.

Mike Davidson - LazyWeb Request: iPhone Power Miser
A proposed app for turning all the power draining/useful iPhone features on and off with one click (or should that be push? poke? jab? finger?). This would need to be provided by Apple, and that they might be reluctant to admit the need for such a thing.

Songbird - Open Source Music Player
After a quick play around with this, I'm very impressed (earlier versions I tried were awful). It scanned my 100GB of tunes quickly, has a good interface and some really appealing features (nice last.fm support, plays FLAC) Sadly, it's really only a curio until they add iPhone support. Update: Hmm, playback glitches occasionally.

How To Launch Software (Aaron Swartz's Raw Thought)
As a user, I'm inclined to agree with Aaron. I've been an early user/beta tester of plenty of stuff, and I'd much rather the slow approach of contributing bug reports, inviting people who I think would also like and enjoy the app, ending up with something well-tuned and usable. With "Hollywood" apps, I'll sign up, find bugs but get no response from the developers, because squillions of other users are reporting the same problems, then, more often than not, decide that, despite the hype, I don't really need the app after all - the result is that I'll either tell no one about the app, or slag it off (partly my fault for being a trend slurper, but still...). The prime example of a slow burning launch is Flickr, which was pretty rubbish when I started using it (back when it was basically a GNE spin-off chat room with image-sharing options), but gradually improved to the point that I was pretty much begging my friends to sign up.

iPhone SSH review: iSSH v. pTerm v. TouchTerm v. SSH
I've gone with SSH. (It's annoying that you have to wait for reviews like these to pop up, or purchase every single app of a given type to find out which is best - if demo versions were available, I'm sure I would've spent a lot more at the App Store by now.)
