A History of Default WordPress Themes
february 2012 by minorjive
WordPress has come a long way since its first release back in May 2003, from just a personal publishing platform to the world’s most used Content Management System. WordPress is a wonderful example of open source development model and how influential this development model could be. During all this time, WordPress went through great changes and to showcase new features, the team behind WordPress occasionally released new default themes. This is the default layout for your blog or website when you first run a default WordPress installation.
In this post we will look at these themes and see how far WordPress has come in terms of features, extendibility, easiness, popularity and awesomeness.

Timthumb (thumb.php) Security Flaw | WooThemes
august 2011 by minorjive
This morning we were made aware of a security flaw within the Timthumb image resizing script, which is utilized in our themes for dynamic image resizing. It is also widely used in other WordPress themes and plugins.
As a result of this security flaw, the author of TimThumb and the author of WordThumb have worked together to release TimThumb v2 which fixes these security issues.
We’d highly recommend that you update your WooFramework like described below.

Add support for BuddyPress to your existing WordPress theme. This plugin will guide you through the process step by step. Once you are finished, your existing WordPress theme will be able to manage and display all BuddyPress pages and content. The process is completely reversible and does not modify any of your existing template files.

A few months ago I wrote about WordPress Security. P2 WordPress Theme WYSIWYG or Rich Text Editor On Front Page | Wissam Idrissi
december 2010 by minorjive
P2 WordPress theme lacks WYSIWYG or rich text editor on the front page, users with no knowledge of HTML will experience trouble posting pictures or formatting, quoting text, the problem is that if you implement an editor like TinyMCE it will conflict of the status update leading into a very slow infinite loop of more TinyMCE calls, at the same number of posts per page.

may 2009 by minorjive
This is the Chapter II of the Complete WordPress Theme Guide series. This chapter will show you how to build a custom WordPress theme. Although the Codex site provides very good documentations on how to create a theme, but I find it too complicated for a beginner. In this tutorial, I will explain the basics of how WordPress theme works and show you how to convert a static HTML template into a theme. No PHP skill is required, but you need Photoshop and CSS skills to create your own design.
