Focus on the User
How much better would social search be if Google surfaced results from all across the web? The results speak for themselves. We created a tool that uses Google’s own relevance measure—the ranking of their organic search results—to determine what social content should appear in the areas where Google+ results are currently hardcoded.

All of the information in this demo comes from Google itself, and all of the ranking decisions are made by Google's own algorithms. No other services or APIs are accessed.

Sync Your Custom Chrome Search Engines Across Windows and Mac Systems
Windows/Mac: Chrome syncs nearly everything about your browser choices. Everything, that is, except the "search engines"/keyword bookmarks you've painstakingly set up. One clever Lifehacker reader has fixed that, albeit in a round-about, script-fired, Dropbox-synced kind of way.

Ludovic Chabant pointed us to his personal blog post, where he provides some how-to and packaged script shells for firing off. It's a simple trick—grabbing a copy of Chrome's SQLite-based search engine database, and re-copying it on a new system—made even more simple for non-coders, and synced up with Dropbox. You don't really need any scripting knowledge to get them working, though you might need to fix one or two things in your system to get them working properly.

Snap Bird helps find old tweets and messages by going where Twitter Search can’t: months back
Do you have a lot of Twitter followers? Do you receive a ton of messages? Are you a blogger? If you answered yes to any of those questions then probably use Twitter Search on occasion to look up replies, messages or mentions. However, the problem with Twitter Search is that it only allows you to go back 10 days. But what if you want to see what someone wrote to your 3 weeks ago?

Or how about 3 months ago?

Until now, you probably just searched page after page to find what you were looking for.

Well, this is where a little site called Snap Bird comes in to play.

TweetTabs Is An Awesome Way To Search Twitter In Near Real-Time
True to its name, TweetTabs allows you to open several tabs with different Twitter search queries. While some Twitter desktop clients also allow you to do this, TweetTabs is completely browser-based. And it’s great because it’s so simple. All you do is enter a query into the search box and a new tab will automatically pop open that will update in real-time. There are also a list of the top trending topics on Twitter across the top of the site, which you can click on to open a tab for any of those searches as well.
