SiftLinks - Your personalised links from Twitter to your feed reader
Welcome to SiftLinks
SiftLinks is a service that monitors your friend stream on Twitter, pulls out the links and creates an RSS feed for you to peruse at your leisure.

Things to bear in mind

SiftLinks checks your twitter stream every 30 minutes and stores the last 50 links that it finds. If your feed reader doesn't update too often it might miss some links. If your twitter stream has hundreds of links running through it every hour then SiftLinks might not be for you.

If you'd like to contact me about SiftLinks then find me on Twitter. You can also follow my personal account if you'd like to here about the other stuff i'm working on.

About

SiftLinks was created because I was tired of missing out on all the great links that people posted on Twitter that I never got the time to properly check out. I don't have a massive follow list but quite often, if I was away from the computer for a couple of days and only accessing Twitter via my iPhone, I'd miss out on reading some really interesting articles. I figured it would be easier if I could dash through those articles in my feed reader when I got the chance. I also figured that if I wanted this then someone else might too, so I went ahead and put it together.

Create a Slick iPhone/Mobile Interface from any RSS Feed | CSS-Tricks
We are going to create a web page that is formatted specifically for the iPhone (but would presumably be good for other mobile devices as well). This web page will dynamically fill itself with content from any RSS feed that you give it. The interface is going to be built to be easy to use on a mobile device, with large “touchable” areas and nice (jQuery) animations that whisk you between articles.

Google AJAX Feed API - Google Code
With the Feed API, you can download any public Atom, RSS, or Media RSS feed using only JavaScript, so you can easily mash up feeds with your content and other APIs like the Google Maps API.

The Google AJAX Feed API takes the pain out of developing mashups in JavaScript because you can now mash up feeds using only a few lines of JavaScript, rather than dealing with complex server-side proxies. This makes it easy to quickly integrate feeds on your website, as shown below.

Add Custom Values To Your WordPress RSS Feed | Script & Style
WordPress creates two different feeds: a basic RSS feed and an Atom feed. Script & Style, like almost every other blog out there, uses FeedBurner to serve the syndication feed, and we chose to have FeedBurner use the Atom feed. In our experience, the Atom feed has been more stable and doesn’t cause problems in Google Reader like the basic RSS version does from time to time. Since we’re serving the Atom feed, we’ll need to modify the feed-atom.php file.
