Cyberduck – FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, Cloud Files, Google Docs & Amazon S3 Browser for Mac & Windows.
Their S3 support seems zippy and good. I think it supports multipart uploads too.

Elastician: S3 MultiPart Upload in boto
This appears to be the only sane way to transfer decently large (>2GB) files in to S3. Knock on wood anyway. Using traditional methods will likely just broken pipe on you after a short time.

Thread: Does Amazon EC2 meet PCI Compliance guidelines?
While Amazon's cloud is reasonably secure, it'll never reach PCI Level 1 compliance. So don't save or store credit card information on EC2 or S3.

Amazon Web Services Developer Connection: Http/1.1 Service Unavailable - Outage? ...
S3 was serving up 503: Unavailable for about 7 hours last night. While I like that they kept us informed in the user forum, 7 hours is a heck of a long time for a utility to go down. It's like the water company shutting off the water for 7 hours on you.
