ksuther.com | Chax
Fixes a bunch of crap I don't like about iChat. Makes it mostly usable, it's nice using all the native apps since they integrate so well.

Anxiety - Lightweight To-do Management
Nice todo manager, good options for how to bug you and how to get out of the way. Other features include integration with OS X calendar / mail backends and being free as in beer. I'll see how long it lasts, it seems I spend too much time trying to stay organized and so far only post-it notes in a line next to my desk seem to get the job done.

ExpanDrive: Ridiculously simple SFTP and FTP drive access on your Mac
This is a utility I want, and it pisses me off. I really do enjoy my mac, 90% of the time it just lets me get stuff done. Once in a while however, I hit a basic feature of Gnome or Linux that the OSX community wants to charge me $40 bucks for. Shenanigans.

Massively Parallel Procrastination: Savory
Native kindle application (first i've heard of it) that basically runs Calibre on the kindle and watches for unsupported formats. When one is downloaded it converts to mobi. It must be noted that it make NO ATTEMPT to work around or facilitate any DRM. It is a move to make the kindle more open. Hurrah.

metaquark » AppFresh
This is one of those times open source software shines. I love apt and how well it manages linux software. This is in the spirit of synaptic for updates only. It will find all your Apple and 3rd party software and get updates for it. Considering the distributed nature of Apple software it's fairly impressive.

Camouflage from briksoftware's
Simple little app, glad it is free. It just hides the icons on your desktop. A double click on the desktop will give you a finder window.

Alex Payne — al3x's Rules for Computing Happiness
I think these are good basic rules for computing happiness. I fail the drm test.

Alex Payne — The Case Against Everything Buckets
I completely agree with this. It leaves me at thinking dropbox may be a better solution than evernote / tomboy.
