Auckland Mandolinata Orchestra Inc.
Soon after arriving from Holland with her family, Doris Flameling (1932-2004) started teaching guitar and mandolin in West Auckland. In 1969, she formed a small ensemble for her pupils. This ensemble eventually developed into a full size mandolin orchestra. Doris was the musical director and conductor of this orchestra for many years. Read the full story.

The orchestra has an aim to foster an interest in, and to encourage the playing of, the mandolin family and related instruments. The size of the orchestra ranges from twenty to thirty members playing mandolins, mandolas, mandocello or Liuto, Mandolon (bass mandolin), guitars, contra-bass, flute, and accordions.

The orchestra is continuously recruiting new players of any level of musical skills and has a training scheme in place for any of the instruments.

Mandolins in Brisbane - Home
Mandolins in Brisbane (MIB) is Queensland's foremost mandolin and guitar ensemble. It comprises of a group of enthusiastic players of mandolins, mandolas, guitars and double bass and is conducted by Allan Hall or Nathan Aspinall.

Founded in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia in 1998, MIB plays a varied repertoire from renaissance to contemporary. MIB not only continues the well-established traditions of Italian mandolin music, but also performs classical, folk-inspired and popular music from all the continents of the world.

MIB has produced two CDs that have been well received by listeners. You are invited to listen to, or view, MIB from our audio and video pages. You might care also to purchase our CDs from the shop.

MIB's current personnel is listed here. We're always looking for musicians interested in joining the ensemble. Violin players are particularly welcome as the mandolin enjoys the same tuning as the violin. Please contact us for further details

Capital of Australia Mandolinata - COZMO - Mandolin Orchestra
(Capital of Australia Mandolinata Inc.) was formed late in 2005 and incorporated on 10 May 2006. We welcome players of plucked stringed instruments (mandolin and guitar families, double bass and associated instruments) to join with us and enjoy the playing of the wide range of repertoire available to ensembles like ours.

We rehearse weekly at 7.30pm - 9.45pm on Thursdays in the Performing Arts Building, Marist College Canberra, Marr St, Pearce, ACT.

Canberra Mandolin Orchestra
Formed in 2003, the CMO brings together players of mandolin, mandola, mandocello, mandobass, guitar, double bass.

Under the musical direction of Michael Sollis, the CMO's repertoire includes ritzy tunes from the dawn of the jazz age, light classics, film themes, Italian and Greek numbers, Irish and Australian folk tunes and popular music.

We rehearse in Forrest ACT every Tuesday evening from 7:30 pm, except for ACT school holidays.

Melbourne Mandolin Orchestra
The Melbourne Mandolin Orchestra was formed in 1967 and has thrilled and entertained audiences in almost all the capital cities of Australia as well as numerous cities in Europe and Japan during its overseas tours. It performs a very wide repertoire of music spanning several centuries and numerous styles ranging from Renaissance to contemporary compositions, some of which were written specifically for this orchestra.

The Sydney Mandolin Orchestra - home
The Sydney Mandolin Orchestra is an ensemble that regularly performs in and around Sydney, Australia, under the baton of conductor Christopher Keane. We are Australia's oldest mandolin orchestra and are dedicated to keeping alive the tradition of mandolin music in Sydney.

The Orchestra gives its own concerts as well as being available for hire. We perform at art shows, community and cultural events, weddings and private parties. The Orchestra plays either as an intimate chamber group or as a larger ensemble - whichever suits the occasion.

Our varied repertoire covers classical and contemporary pieces from Australian and international composers. Music played includes Renaissance, Classical, Neapolitan, Spanish, Modern and Popular.

West Australian Mandolin Orchestra
The West Australian Mandolin Orchestra (WAMO) Inc. was formed over 30 years ago and continues to perform a number of times each year in Perth and country areas. The orchestra is lead by conductor, Robert Schulz, who is a professional teacher and composer for mandolin and guitar.


WAMO is proud of its reputation for performing new works by Australian composers. A typical programme for a major concert would comprise both new and classic works for mandolin orchestra. Each year the orchestra works on new repertoire but always maintains a light programme of music available for performance at short notice.

The orchestra is available for both private and public performances.

Sydney Mandolins
The Sydney Mandolins was formed in 1975 by Adrian Hooper and consists of a core of five leading Australian performers.

BASS GUITAR: Michael Hooper

The ensemble works regularly for the A.B.C. in radio broadcasts, as well as concerts. The Sydney Mandolins have performed for organisations such as the Canberra Arts Council, Festival of Sydney and Mostly Mozart. They perform classical music from all periods and have commissioned, often with the help of the Australia Council, many works from contemporary composers including Larry Sitsky, Eric Gross, Michael Smetanin, Dolcie Holland, Ann Carr-Boyd and Ian Shanahan.

Concordia mandolin orchestra
We are a mandolin orchestra based in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
There are approximately 20 members who play mandolins, mandolas, guitars, double bass and piano accordion.

The orchestra plays classical, contemporary and popular music and it is often joined by
professional soloists playing woodwind, strings or vocalists.

Leading arts councils have engaged Concordia for concert perfomances and festival events.

Concordia orchestra's engagements have seen concerts given in such diverse venues as wineries, garden nurseries,
historic homesteads and festivals.
