Guidelines For Interviewing At A Startup
For example, telling me you increased sales by 300% isn’t that helpful. Telling me how you learned to handle customer objections around price could prove to be very useful.

There Is Actually Nothing Better in the World Than Talking About Yourself
People enjoy talking about themselves. Get the other party talking about themselves and opening up.

The one interview question I always ask | turning things into products
Imagine if you are extended multiple job offers from different companies, and you are trying to decide which one you will accept. Imagine that the way you go about this is that you write down the things that matter to you from most to least and that you use 3-5 things at the top of that list to decide. Those are your decision drivers. What are they?

The Value of Role-Play
In particular I suggested we spend the afternoon role-playing the negotiation, which he agreed to try. I played the part of the partner and raised the sorts of questions and concerns I thought were likely. It soon became clear that our CEO wasn’t ready for the meeting. He understood our interests extremely well but not the other party’s interests, particularly the non-financial ones.

"They then asked me about a time where I disagreed with a superior and how I handled the situation" "I told them that every situation is different and that to me... there's no one right answer." I would have made the same mistake right out of college. The right answer would have been to "tell them about a time where you disagreed with a superior and how you handled the situation." The question was not designed to produce a report on how you handle disagreements with superiors. It was not even designed to see if you could follow instructions like a lemming. I suggest you look the real reason you didn't want to give an answer: the fear that it would be the wrong answer.

Arkadi Kuhlmann of ING, Taking a Yearly Vote on Himself - NYTimes.com
Here’s one. There are five animals — a lion, a cow, a horse, a monkey and a rabbit. If you were asked to leave one behind, which one would you leave behind?

So the lion represents pride, the horse represents work, the cow represents family, the monkey represents friends, and the rabbit represents love.

Small asks first | Hi, I'm David G. Cohen
A small ask is better. Remember that you’re being introduced to someone who you know is getting this type of request all the time, but has offered to help. Just ask for one thing, and ask for it in the form of a response by email. If you have 3 questions, ask them by email instead of forcing the person to get on the phone with you real time.
