The NYTPicker looks like a fair, thoughtful critique blog focused solely on the New York Times
Unlike the multitude of mouthfrothing right wingers or woe-is-me media-is-dying types, these people clearly want the Times to be the best it can be.

NY Times gets pwnd by malicious adware
A scammer pretended to be a legit national advertiser, provided some legitimate ads for a week, then switched them to pop-up fake virus warnings over the weekend. The Times has suspended ads automatically inserted by third party ad-placement agencies.

Lens, the New York Times' visual journalism blog, looks nice
Clean design that highlights the photos well. I like the forward/backward hinting and the full screen mode in particular.

Times Wire, a Digg-spy/Twitter-like news feed
Smart work from the New York Times, strikes the right balance between customization and new content. I wonder, though, if there will be enough updates to keep watchers happy.

New York Times launches a social network of sorts
Pretty interesting idea, actually - it works as a Firefox plug-in that behind-the-scenes connects you to other users who share similar interests.

DBSlayer looks like a really sharp approach to database abstraction
Built on top of HTTP and JSON. Also, this is from the New York freaking Times of all places - when did they become a technology company? Gotta keep an eye on those cats...

New York Times officially drops TimesSelect
“What wasn’t anticipated was the explosion in how much of our traffic would be generated by Google, by Yahoo and some others.” Huh, that's odd, because I remember EVERYFUCKINGBODY saying that when TimesSelect launched.

The New York Times has done an advertising "story" about Red Lobster in their food section?
This is seriously icky feeling. It looks and feels just like a regular NYT story, except for the smallish "ADVERTISING" header. CORRECTION: Duh, this is a story *about* advertising, not an ad itself. Dumbass = me.

TVNewser guy is going to NYT
It is perverse how serious TV executives take this site - I'd bet that the IP block for 30 Rock alone accounts for half a million page views a day, mostly from the same 100 execs hitting F5 like they've got Parkinson's.

Sam Brownback has a surprisingly coherent, if fundamentally flawed, op-ed in the NYTimes about his belief in evolution
Ultimately, though, he wants the scientific theory of evolution to square up with his personal religious beliefs, which ain't how science works, Sam, no matter how much you may want it to.

Dave Winer hooks the NYTimes up to Twitter
I've used a few of these (BBC, weather) and end up unsusbscribing after a couple of days. I just don't think the "twiiter as feed reader" metaphor really works.

Blogs versus the NY Times in Google (kottke.org)
I really hate linking to Kottke. This is a stupid bet and doesn't really prove much of anything beyond the fact that bloggers like to talk. More interesting would be when bloggers scoop or, heaven forfend, actually report on a story instead of just linkin
