Bloggers must disclose freebies
This strikes me as a good thing - bloggers have existed in an ethical gray zone for a while, many all too happy to reap the benefits of free stuff.

Kottke proposes a new method for dealing with idiots: stop giving them attention
If this actually takes hold, Gawker media might have to shut down, along with half the blogs in New York, LA and silicon valley. Which is to say, I'm all for it. Curiously timed around the release of NonSociety (couldn't resist).

Collective memory at kottke.org
Kottke links to "cartoon girls I wanna nail" (a Geocities site that immediately buckled) and then folks write in to remind him that he linked to the same site NINE YEARS AGO. I honestly love that. Also, I'm still pissed the site is down.

I really wish Choire Sicha's response to Daniel Schorr wasn't so goddamn predictable
Schorr, a veteran journalist who, at the very least deserves a modicum of respect, makes some salient points about the inevitable friction between bloggers and journalism. Sicha responds with a boring, unfunny dolop of snark.
