29 percent of voters say tea partiers are terrorists (Poll)
august 2011 by inboxnews
Vice President Joe Biden caught some flak recently after he and other Democrats reportedly compared tea partiers to terrorists during the debate to raise the debt ceiling.
But it turns out only 29 percent of Americans agree with him, according to a Rasmussen poll released Monday. Fifty-five percent disagree. (RELATED: Conservatives strike back against ‘Tea Party downgrade’ label)
Rasmussen’s poll surveyed 1,000 likely voters on Aug. 5 and 6, asking them, “Some people have accused the Tea Party of acting like economic terrorists during the budget debates. Are members of the Tea Party economic terrorists?”
A spokesman for Biden, who according to Politico joined other Democrats in a closed-door meeting in making the comparison, distanced the vice president from the reports.

DHS Video Characterizes White Americans as Most Likely Terrorists
july 2011 by inboxnews
A new promotional video released by the Department of Homeland Security characterizes white middle class Americans as the most likely terrorists, as Big Sis continues its relentless drive to cement the myth that mad bombers are hiding around every corner, when in reality Americans are just as likely to be killed by lightning strikes or peanut allergies.
The video is part of Homeland Security’s $10 million dollar “See Something, Say Something” program that encourages Americans to report “suspicious activity,” which in every case throughout history has been a trait of oppressive, dictatorial regimes.
In the course of the 10 minute clip, a myriad of different behaviors are characterized as terrorism, including opposing surveillance, using a video camera, talking to police officers, wearing hoodies, driving vans, writing on a piece of paper, and using a cell phone recording application.

Pentagon Reportedly Considers Allowing Gitmo Family Visits
may 2011 by inboxnews
The Pentagon reportedly is looking at the possibility of letting family members visit detainees at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp.
The Washington Post reported that The International Committee of the Red Cross has been discussing a visitation program with military officials. The Post reported that while an earlier version of the Defense budget bill in Congress banned family visits, a newer version states only that Pentagon funds cannot go toward bringing family members to Guantanamo -- leaving open the possibility that the Red Cross could pay for visits, if they are allowed.
The change, if approved, would be an unprecedented step at Guantanamo and another signal that the facility may not close any time soon, despite President Obama's pledge to shutter the facility.
