New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter has just connected on the 3,000th base hit of his major-league career with a home run to left field in the third inning against Tampa Bay Rays pitcher David Price at Yankee Stadium.
The only other player to ever hit a homer for his 3,000th career hit was Wade Boggs, who played with the Boston Red Sox, Tampa Bay, and was a teammate of Jeter's in New York at the start of the shortstop's career.
The Poughkeepsie Journal will publish a collectible poster of Jeter and his accomplishment as part of its extensive coverage.
