If you think that your water cooled rig is pretty sweet, check out this creation by Dutch PC enthusiast [Peter Brands] (Google Translation).

With his computer tweaked as far as he could imagine, he decided to spruce up his office a bit. In the process, he ended up tweaking his computer just a little bit more. After seeing a build put together by another computer enthusiast, he set off to construct a desk in which he could show off his computer. He spent some time drawing up plans with Google Sketchup and with the help of a friendly neighbor, started construction of his desk/PC case.

The desk is constructed from 3mm thick aluminum, and houses most of his computer’s components under a thick piece of glass. The only portion of the computer that is not enclosed in the desk is the 9-fan radiator he used for his water cooling setup. That part resides in his crawl space, which he connects to his PC via a pair of large water hoses he punched through his tile floor. Prendo un Pc o un Mac? Questa è una delle domande che un grafico medio di solito si pone all’inizio della sua carriera personale.

La leggenda vuole che il Web Designer Modello usi Mac e che tutti gli altri siano una fetecchia pura, ma perchè?

Quando qualcuno vi parla di Mac narra sempre la debellazione dei virus, la super velocità e la nitidezza dei colori.

In parte puo essere anche vero, ma ormai anche i Pc hanno migliorato la velocità, la qualità dei colori e si difendono dai virus, forse con più fatica rispetto ai mac.

Personalmente penso che se uno è bravo e ha talento, che usi Mac o Pc, svolgerà il suo lavoro bene a priori, mentre un brocco creativo anche con il più sofisticato sistema della NASA non farà grandi risultati.

Io sono cresciuto con Pc, e ho sviluppato sul web tranquillamente senza alcun problema anche con l’esistenza del Mac.

E’ proprio vero, i computer ed internet stanno lentamente sostituendo la televisione. I motivi di tutto questo successo sono molteplici, ne citerò alcuni: reperibilità delle informazioni istantanea; scelta autonoma dei contenuti da guardare; pubblicità non troppo invasiva (anche se in certi casi non è così); la possibilità di interagire con chi crea i contenuti (commenti ed email).

Internet è così coinvolgente che non riusciamo a percepire lo scorrimento veloce del tempo. Non è come la TV che, anche se a tratti appassionante, dopo qualche ora finisce il film, si spegne e buona notte. Internet, se lo vogliamo, “non finisce”. Per questo motivo, capita spesso, anche al sottoscritto, lavorare al computer e non accorgersi che è notte inoltrata.
