These creatures are found all over the planet(/internet) and beg the question "What the h**l is that?" Pictures of them get circulated everywhere from some random no-name blog to national and international news networks, giving everyone a chance to make their own quasi-educated (by TV/movies) prediction regarding what scientists and internet skeptics will find out. Here's a list of songs which meanings we miss because we either don't listen to lyrics properly or we just take the song at face value, ignoring any origins or intent of the artist. Or we just don't know the lyrics to anything. Then, one day, your world breaks down. Everything you knew and loved turns out to be a lie because that song which you thought was innocent and sweet is actually about slaughtering kittens or marrying dogs or something of the like. Hell, we even gave the film a full day of coverage last April, sadly a day before Commentary Commentary was in existence. So here we are. The Criterion Collection of Armageddon and everything Michael Bay has to thrown down on the commentary track. Say what you will. Even outside the walls of FSR, this film has its fair share of fandom, and they aren't backing down from their sturdy position. But be honest. It's going to be fun to hear all the intricacies and insight Bay has to dish out even if you aren't a fan of the film.

Fan fiction is what literature might look like if it were reinvented from scratch after a nuclear apocalypse by a band of brilliant pop-culture junkies trapped in a sealed bunker. They don't do it for money. That's not what it's about. The writers write it and put it up online just for the satisfaction. They're fans, but they're not silent, couchbound consumers of media. The culture talks to them, and they talk back to the culture in its own language.

Introduction: My motivation

I have written different versions of this document many times over the years with differing tones and differing goals. I've always been reluctant to put much effort into this for a variety of reasons. My motivation for doing it now is having read Aja's post about her time in the Inner Circle and Ari_O's post during the Ms. Scribe Story.

I am trying to explain exactly what happened in June 2001 from my point of view. As you read, you may say, "Your grudge is showing." You're probably right. I do have a grudge. It is not possible for me to provide a wholly unbiased account of these events because I was involved. On the other hand, I am in the interesting position of being the only person with any access to some of the information about this incident.

Cinephiles love reading way too much into a films, and 99 percent of the stuff they come up with is bullshit ("what if Haley Joel Osment was also a ghost?") but other times, they turn out to be right (yes, Harrison Ford really was a replicant in Blade Runner).
