Verwendest Du Dein iPad mit tizi oder tizi go als Fernseher, kannst Du Dein iPhone jetzt als Fernbedienung nutzen. Mit der neuen Remote-App ist es möglich, die meisten Funktionen der DVB-T-Tuner fernzusteuern. Senderwechsel, Aufnahmestart, Lautstärke – dafür muss man jetzt nicht mehr aufstehen, wenn der “Tablet-Fernseher” mal etwas weiter weg steht. Sogar die Programminformationen, die über das DVB-T-Signal geladen werden, zeigt die iPhone-App an.

Apple's solution would simplify the user interface by having devices wirelessly transmit a specific interface for that device. The remote would receive this customized button layout, and dynamically present input options to the user without the clutter of a typical button-based universal remote.

The remote would also detect which appliances are within range of the controller. If, for example, a specific appliance could not be detected, the remote would gray that option out so the user would know it is not available.

The proposed invention, made public this week by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, was first filed in September of 2011. It is credited to Albert Vidal.

Sony just announced two new Google TV devices at CES: the NSZ-GP9 Blu-ray player and the NSZ-GS7 media streamer. Both feature a new remote with a backlit keyboard, a touchpad with gesture navigation support, and three-axis motion sensing for gaming. (We're guessing that means phone-style tilt and rotation, not full six axis control like the PS3, but we'll have to confirm that.) The Blu-ray player remote also has a built-in microphone so you can access Google voice search and find content across live TV, streaming services, and the internet just by speaking.

Touch Play is a bit more complex than Apple’s Remote app, it seems. There are a number of gestures included, like a one finger tap for the video’s context, a one finger swipe up for a like, a swipe down for a “watch later,” a swipe left or right to move back or forward in a video by 10 seconds, a two finger up or down to change “channels” (e.g. your favorites queue, your “watch later” queue, etc.), a pinch to return to the guide, an expand to expand the sharing controls, and a double tap to play and pause videos. Whew! 

If you're one of the lucky owners of a TiVo Premiere DVR, it's time to check to see if you're twice lucky. TiVo has rolled out an update to a random few that adds multi-room streaming between TiVo boxes, updated guide and program info screens in proper HD, Hulu Plus search integration, and a few other new features. While the HD guide will surely be the most-noticed change and hit immediately, apparently multi-room streaming won't be turned on until the update reaches everybody. When it does, however, it will ignore "Copy Once" flags within TiVo's system since it's a streaming solution.

My mother’s TV experience was to walk over to her TV set and turn a dial to select among three channels to satisfy her individuality. But in the next generation, no two people will receive the same recommendations from the millions of content choices available.

I don’t think I’d choose to have BlinQ replace my TV Guide all together but it is certainly a technology I’d use in addition to the TV Guide or channel guide. Another drawback is that the BlinQ app shows popularity of TV shows by people who are using the app. I’d rather see popularity of TV shows by people I know and trust (i.e. some of my Facebook friends). And I wonder how hard it would be for a cable company to implement a similar experience in the channel guide; similar to a ‘what’s trending,’ by show, but for TV sets.
