The Raspberry Pi
This is a really cool computer that has no case, but does have 256MB RAM, USB, HDMI output, SD slot and is powered by a microUSB charger (e.g. from a mobile phone). Only costs £16-22! Runs Debian Linux and has Scratch development environment pre-loaded for kids.

This is probably the best movie rental service I have come across. There are pay-as-you-go and monthly subscription based services. I have the unlimited service where I can have up to 2 disks at home at one time and it works great. Through the website you can maintain a list of your rental choices. Turnaround from returning disks to getting your next selection is quick. Subscription package also include some online viewing but the resolution is very low.

TotalFinder
This is an essential plugin for Finder on the Mac that, amongst other things, give a tabbed view of your file system (multiple windows). It also does nice things like put all your folders at the top. There is also a HUD view, that causes finder to slide up from the bottom of the screen.
