The Fiscal Toll of Treating 'Lifestyle Diseases' - NYTimes.com
"The INTERHEART study of 30,000 men and women in 52 countries showed that at least 90 percent of heart disease is lifestyle related; a European study of more than 23,000 Germans showed that people with healthier lifestyles had an 81 percent lower risk."
hmm, maybe not:
"While I agree with your general premise, you need to reanalyze some of the definitive statements you make. Type 2 diabetes can be prevented in many people, but it is not caused entirely by diet (quite the contrary). Type 2 diabetics have a genetic predisposition for Type 2 that is triggered by diet and health. Meaning some people can do everything in the power to prevent getting it, but still get it. While others could live an incredibly unhealthy lifestyle, but still not get it. We can prevent a lot, but not all. The same goes for heart disease and many of the other diseases that you mentioned." -- random comment on article

Tea may contain more fluoride than once thought, research shows
"Fluoride is known to help prevent dental cavities, but long-term ingestion of excessive amounts could cause bone problems. The average person ingests a very safe amount, 2 to 3 milligrams, daily through fluoridated drinking water, toothpaste and food. It would take ingesting about 20 milligrams a day over 10 or more years before posing a significant risk to bone health."
