Over the last ten years, UX has emerged from the backroom to the boardroom, going from something that's “nice to have,” to an essential element of successful products and services. Adaptive Path can take a small bit of credit for that.

HTML Lint is a tool that makes sure your code looks good. While XHTML was very strict with syntax HTML 5 is more lenient like previous versions of HTML, which means keeping consistent code styles will become more difficult. Validating is not good enough anymore.

Responsive Web Design: What It Is and How To Use It - Smashing Magazine
Responsive Web design is the approach that suggests that design and development should respond to the user’s behavior and environment based on screen size, platform and orientation. The practice consists of a mix of flexible grids and layouts, images and an intelligent use of CSS media queries. As the user switches from their laptop to iPad, the website should automatically switch to accommodate for resolution, image size and scripting abilities. In other words, the website should have the technology to automatically respond to the user’s preferences. This would eliminate the need for a different design and development phase for each new gadget on the market

HTML5 Canvas Cheat Sheet - Nihilogic
The information is pretty much just a copy of what is found in the WHATWG specs, just condensed and hopefully a bit easier to read. There are virtually no explanations, however, and no examples other than some graphics for compositing values and a few other things (the appearance of which is very much inspired by those found in Mozilla's examples). So, it's basically just a listing of the attributes and methods of the canvas element and the 2d drawing context.

The Mystery Of The CSS Float Property « Smashing Magazine
The CSS float property allows a developer to incorporate table-like columns in an HTML layout without the use of tables. If it were not for the CSS float property, CSS layouts would not be possible except using absolute and relative positioning — which would be messy and would make the layout unmaintainable.

Web standards secret sauce
Firefox and Opera are great browsers that have greatly advanced the cause of web standards, but because they are choices in a space where most people don't make choices, their power to convert is necessarily somewhat truncated. Webkit, in the form of Safari, has been a surprising force for good on the web, raising people's expectations about what a web browser can and should do, and what a web page should look like.
