10 'great' tech products that really weren't - Computerworld
july 2011 by gdw
Looking back with 20/20 hindsight, it's clear many products people thought were great at the time don't look so great any more. In fact most weren't all that hot when new. Yet many continue to worship them as if they were even better than sliced bread.

A Day in the Life of Joey Rabbit
This is a time lapse video of our favorite house rabbit, Joey. He's a rescue rabbit, and he's found his forever home. As you can see, he's a busy little bunny. It's almost like perpetual motion. Incidentally, the music is Moto Perpetuo by Paganini, from a royalty free collection of music. We usually play with him a lot more than this, but we left him to his own devices for the day so that the focus would be on the star.

10 Ways to Get the Most Out of Technology - NYTimes.com
december 2010 by gdw
But the tech industry has given you the impression that making adjustments is difficult and time-consuming. It is not.
And so below are 10 things to do to improve your technological life. They are easy and (mostly) free. Altogether, they should take about two hours; one involves calling your cable or phone company, so that figure is elastic. If you do them, those two hours will pay off handsomely in both increased free time and diminished anxiety and frustration. You can do it.

Technology Review: Tapping the Powers of Persuasion
october 2010 by gdw
In his role as director of the Persuasive Technology Laboratory at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, Fogg studies how technology influences behavior. As a consultant to corporations and organizations, he teaches how to design persuasive technologies, those designed to modify behavior without coercion. And as an educator, he's taught many people who now work at Facebook and Google or who have founded other Silicon Valley startups that rely in large part on the power of persuasion.

The Producer as Composer - The MIT Press
august 2009 by gdw
