Signal Processing in Faust and Pd
The Faust programming language is a high-level language for digital signal processing with special support for real-time plugin environments such as Pure Data (Pd), LADSPA, and many others. This tutorial describes how to make Pd, LADSPA, and VST plugins, focusing on a simple example of white noise filtered by a variable resonator. Additionally, generation of an 8-voiced MIDI synthesizer from Faust source and the faust2pd script is illustrated.

pyext for Pure Data
Posted on 11/22/2004 by niklas
I decided I prefer writing normal logic in a language I’m used to, so I went looking for a Python-external for Pure Data. And sure enough, I found Thomas Grill‘s py/pyext (built upon flext, a C layer for Python externals)

py/pyext - Python scripting objects — PD Community Site
This object library provides full integration of the Python scripting language into the Pure Data and the Max/MSP real-time systems. The Max/MSP port is not actively maintained but seems to work and be used nevertheless.

py loads Python modules and execute the functions therein.
pyext uses Python classes to represent full-featured message objects.
Multithreading (detaching) is supported for background operation.

FUDI - Pdpedia
FUDI is a the networking protocol used by Pd internally to communicate between the GUI process and the DSP process. The same protocol is also used for saving patches to the Pd file.
FUDI stand for 'Fast Unified Digital Interface' (or acording to Miller Puckette, whatever other acronym people can come up with :)

Programming Electronic Music in Pd
This tutorial is designed for self-study, principally for composers. It begins with explanations of basic programming and acoustic principles then gradually builds up to the most advanced electronic music processing techniques. The book’s teaching approach is focused primarily on hearing, which we consider a faster and more enjoyable way to absorb new concepts than through abstract formulas.

The PD Patch Challenge is a non-competitive, themed patch challenge! Themes will be selected by mods from a pool of user-submitted themes and ideas.

Goals

The primary goals of this challenge are to encourage creative expression via PD (fun) and to provide an opportunity for PD users to gain experience patching and learn from others (knowledge)

Overtone
an open source audio environment being created to explore musical ideas from synthesis and sampling to instrument building, live-coding and collaborative jamming. We use the SuperCollider synth server as the audio engine, with Clojure (and Java) being used to develop the APIs and the application. Synthesizers, effects, analyzers and musical generators can be programmed in Clojure or designed in a visual data flow editor similar to PureData or Max/MSP. The environment will be integrated with a peer-to-peer network that allows for collaborative composition and jam sessions over the internet and sharing of instruments and effects.

As the repository grows, 0xA evolves with it. Aymeric Mansoux, Chun Lee and Olivier Laruelle are the current active contributors.

ixi audio on Vimeo
ixi audio is an experimental project concerned with the creation of digital musical instruments and environments for generative music. We are interested in the computer as a workshop for building non-conventional tools for musicians, i.e. not trying to imitate or copy the tools that we know from the world of acoustic instruments or studio technology. We currently work with open source software such as SuperCollider, ChucK and Pure Data, but our aim is to distribute our applications packaged in a way that allows everybody to use them. Simplicity and ease of use together with depth in interaction and expressive scope is the aim of our experimental music software.

Procedurally generated breakbeat + acid loops for your pleasure:
<http://mccormick.cx/dev/GarageAcidLab.zip>

Run 0_START.pd, open up the volume + filter a bit, and then hit the big red
button as often as you like. Press the green toggle to get beats. Watch out for
feedback if your mic is turned up. I find about 1 out of 5 loops are quite
pleasant to listen to, and then every now and then something truly genius turns
up.

PdVst: VST - Pd Bridging Plugin
PdVst is a software system that allows Pd patches to run as VST plugins.

PdVst consists of two main parts, a VST plugin and a custom version of Pd. When a PdVst plugin is opened by the host application, a setup file is read to determine information about the plugin, such as the Pd patch file to use, the number of parameters, etc., and the custom version of Pd is started and opens the Pd patch file whose name was found in the setup file.

-What Is PdVst-
PdVst is a software system that allows Pd patches to run as VST plugins.

-How PdVst Works-
PdVst consists of two main parts, a VST plugin and a custom version of Pd. When a PdVst plugin is opened by the host application, a setup file is read to determine information about the plugin, such as the Pd patch file to use, the number of parameters, etc., and the custom version of Pd is started and opens the Pd patch file whose name was found in the setup file.
