70Decibels - Blog - Welcome to 70Decibels
70Decibels is a 'fine purveyor of audio content', for now and maybe video in the future.

The name originates from the audio level between conversation and broadcasting. We were not able to find a definite for either level at the time, so we decided to split the difference.

DSLReports Home : Broadband ISP Reviews News Tools and Forums
The DSLreports.com domain was registered in June 1999 and populated with various bits of information on the proliferation of new DSL powered small ISPs, as well as user reviews. The first version of the site even ran off a home (small business) DSL line from the (now defunct) NorthPoint CLEC.

We try to have a consumer-first point of view, and defend the privacy and confidentiality of our myriad contributors. Despite our domain name, we are agnostic over broadband connectivity technology: Cable, Wireless and Satellite users are as welcome and as numerous as our DSL users.

10 News Media Content Trends to Watch in 2010
The news media is experiencing a renaissance. As we end the year, its state in 2009 can be summarized as a year of turmoil, layoffs and cutbacks in an industry desperately seeking to reinvent its business model and content. But despite the thousands of journalism jobs lost, the future has much hope and opportunity for those that are willing to adapt to a changing industry.

The Real Reason Why AT&T Blocked 4Chan
4Chan is, for lack of a better term, the “Wild West” of the Internet. It is an unedited, unmoderated message board that is surprisingly influential on the Net. 4Chan users have been credited with starting lolcats and RickRolling. Last year, a 4Chan user allegedly hacked into Sarah Palin’s Yahoo Mail account and posted the password on 4Chan. The site, especially its /b/ page, is an interesting place — very, very “not safe for work.”
