Dynamic Playlist 2.0
It has been 18 months since we’ve released our first dynamic playlisting API. Since then, we’ve received lots of info on how developers really use the API and what parts of the API were difficult to use and understand. We’ve used this info to help us redesign the API to make it more useful and to make it easy to understand. In the next day or so we will be pushing out the first beta release of this new dynamic playlisting API that we call Dynamic Playlist 2.0.

Using JMusic from JES
We use a really neat package for music called JMusic (http://jmusic.ci.qut.edu.au/) in our Media Computation Data Structures class (http://coweb.cc.gatech.edu/cs1316). I'm teaching a workshop in Chicago this week where the question came up (again), "Can we do this from JES?" At this moment, they are all working on MIDI music in Java, so I decided to try to make it work. (You can see their cool media at http://home.cc.gatech.edu/gacomputes). It works!

Wave Bubble
This is my website, ladyada.net. I started it as a 1st year grad student in college, when my advisor required all of the students to have a webpage with their work. It used to live at www.media.mit.edu/~ladyada and there is still an incomplete mirror there. It doesn't work, though and I only recommend it if ladyada.net is down (which should not be happening much anymore).

Most of the stuff on this site is related to the electronic toys, gadgets and art that I've worked on since 2003.

Jon Stewart and Chris Wallace - James Fallows - National - The Atlantic
If you see nothing else (after the 30-second embedded intro ad), watch the three and a half minutes starting around time 6:45. What is most striking is Wallace's either feigned or genuine inability to grasp the main point Stewart is making, and making not once but about ten times. Stewart seems genuinely appalled by Wallace's "moral equivalence" riff between Fox News and Comedy Central.

How do pervasive digital devices—smartphones, iPods, GPS navigation systems, and cameras, among others—influence the way we use spaces? In The Tuning of Place, Richard Coyne argues that these ubiquitous devices and the networks that support them become the means of making incremental adjustments within spaces—of tuning place.

Twitter, SXSW, and Building a 21st Century Business - Umair Haque - Harvard Business Review
Though the lion's share of attention fell on @anywhere, Twitter's new service, it should have fallen on Twitter's new principles instead. Principles, not products, are really what make organizations different, unique, better. "Don't be evil": we've seen just how disruptively powerful those three words can be (and, conversely, how costly it can be to backtrack on them).
