Low-calorie diet offers hope of cure for type 2 diabetes | Society | The Guardian
This article explains how diabetes can be cured by an extreme diet (which most people cannot tolerate) that can alter the body permanently. It's an interesting take on why the gastric bypass could cure diabetes. Though I think the author is not entirely correct since the "cure" of diabetes happens immediately after the surgery and not after being on a highly restrictive diet for a couple of months. Also, roux-en-y has the highest success rate compared to other types, even though other types such as stomach stapling also undergo the same kind of extreme liquid diet after the surgery. But I thought this article was interesting; there might be much more to diabetes than previously thought.

Johns Hopkins: Depression|Anxiety on exercise|mood
Exercise is Medicine for the Brain
Just 20 minutes a week of physical activity can make a difference in your mood. No one seems able to agree on how much exercise, or what type, is best for mental health. But a Scottish study, reported in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, has found that just 20 minutes of any physical activity, including housework, in a week is enough to boost mental health.

Phys Ed: Why Exercise Makes You Less Anxious - Well Blog - NYTimes.com
Researchers at Princeton University recently made a remarkable discovery about the brains of rats that exercise. Some of their neurons respond differently to stress than the neurons of slothful rats. Scientists have known for some time that exercise stimulates the creation of new brain cells (neurons) but not how, precisely, these neurons might be functionally different from other brain cells.
