Hiding content untangled: Hiding vs. moving out of the visible viewport | Marco’s accessibility blog
It is my sincere hope that this blog post helps to clear up some confusion about the types of “hidden” content, the effects “display: none;” vs. negative positioning has, and when to use what properly. A good rule of thumb might be: If something should remain hidden until the user performs a conscious action, use “display: none;”. Should something, on the other hand, become visible when navigated to via the keyboard, or be discoverable by screen reader users right away, use negative positioning.

Building a webpage with accessibility and interoperability in mind: part 1 « Alistair Duggin's blog
I’m currently working on a rather large project at work, the BBC sport olympics website. Being one of the tech leads and a big advocate of accessibility and user experience I’ve been doing a lot of research and learning around making websites accessibility and trying to ensure that the site we deliver is accessible and usable by people with a wide range of abilities, devices and assistive technologies.

Alex's blog: DOM Inspector as accessibility tool
When you need to understand why your web page or your ARIA widget has accessibility issues then it's quite handy to inspect both DOM and accessible trees and what's most important to see *relation* between elements of these trees. That's what DOMi gives you.

Accessible HTML5 Forms – Required Inputs « Unrepentant
While we still don’t have a completely universal experience across all browsers, by doubling up the attributes we are ensured that the form input is as accessible as we can make it, while still taking advantage of the visual output that the ‘required’ attribute is starting to render. At this time then, the Best Practice is to still include both the aria-required and required attributes to your required form inputs.

Access keys - RNIB
Overall we suggest that a well ordered site with good structural mark up, clear link text and page titles, making good use of hidden navigation can do more for the user in terms of easing navigation than access keys can. In addition to this, screen reader users, the main group for which hidden navigation is intended, already have a number of keyboard shortcuts that help navigation within pages. This includes functions to list links, headings, page titles, and frames and to skip between form fields.

Using WAI ARIA Landmark Roles – updated | The Paciello Group Blog
The WAI ARIA specification defines a set of specialised “landmark” roles. These roles provide a method to programmatically identify commonly found sections of web page content in a consistent way. they can be used now in whatever flavour of (X)HTML you prefer. This allows assistive technologies to provide users with features which they can use to identify and navigate to sections of page content.

jQuery Accessible Tabs - How to make tabs REALLY accessible - web output
While a lot of Tabs-Scripts claim to be accessible it turns out, most of them are really not. Bruce Lawson’s personal site  : JavaScript and screenreaders
For three years Jared Smith and his lovable chums at WebAIM have conducted a survey of screenreader users, analysed the result and posted them. This year’s results are out. Let’s take a moment to give them a round of applause.

There is much to digest, but one figure really caught my attention: only 1.6% of respondents had JavaScript disabled. Turning that round, 98.4% of screenreader users had JavaScript enabled.

Juicy Studio: Writing a Good Accessibility Statement
Accessibility statements are an ideal place to empower visitors to your website. Most accessibility statements are too technical, and don't necessarily address the needs of the visitor. Those that do address the needs of visitors often have the information lost in a myriad of other information that is unlikely to be understood by the average visitor to the website. What should and shouldn't be included in an accessibility statement?
