What's bigger than 1080p? 4K video comes to YouTube // YouTube Blog
july 2010 by fabianmohr
"...we announced support for videos shot in 4K (a reference resolution of 4096 x 3072), meaning that now we support original video resolution from 360p all the way up to 4096p. To give some perspective on the size of 4K, the ideal screen size for a 4K video is 25 feet; IMAX movies are projected through two 2k resolution projectors."

Dealing with that DSLR in POST! // Life through the Viewfinder
may 2010 by fabianmohr
"Post Production is almost always a bittersweet experience. On the one hand it is great because here is where the movie gets made. The Director and Editor really make their mark in the editing suite, it’s all about decisions. However, before we can get to the point where we have a dedicated editor, we have to do things the old fashion way… by ourselves, and THAT can be a pain. It can especially be a pain if you’re using a camera which uses a codec that doesn’t quite play nice with the NLE of your choice."

Review: First take on the Canon 5D Mark II video mode with notes on Final Cut Pro settings // mophojo
december 2008 by fabianmohr
"Let me make one thing perfectly clear: This is not a video camera. So don’t expect it to do the same things your video camera does. It is, however, one killer full-frame DSLR that shoots some spectacular hi-def video. And that’s enough for me. As a staff photojournalist at the Lexington Herald-Leader, I plan for the 5D MK II to replace my video camera. The advantages this camera will give me outweigh it’s weaknesses."
