When the original "Wormhole: X-Treme" was summarily cancelled following its (deservedly) dire showing in the ratings, few suspected the series would go on to become a sleeper hit on DVD. Whether because of its subsequent popularity among MST3K fans as a "Plan Nine from Outer Space" for the new millennium; or because of the outpouring of fanfic featuring Dr. Levant and Col. Danning (or, as the slashers refer to them, "Dannevant"); or because of the rumour circulated by internet tinhats that the climax of WHX documents an actual alien spaceship landing (a rumour prompted, perhaps, by the shot's vast superiority to the series' other FX), WHX made enough of a profit on DVD for its creator, Martin Lloyd, to get the green light for this even more ludicrous sequel.
